Dangerous Driving.

Just read in the daily paper about a driver having eye site so bad he ploughed down and killed a young man on a pelican crossing. He didn't see him.
The driver was charged with careless driving, given a fine and banned from driving. To my mind the charge should be dangerous driving, the fact that a family has lost a son/brother surly can't be called careless?
